KKTOK Announces 2018 Calendar

The Turkish Cypriot Touring and Automobile Association (KKTOK) announced its draft 2018 championship calendar in December 2017 and, after consulting with other clubs and once the European Championship and Turkish Championship calendars had been set, has now published its official calendar.

KKTOK President Tigin Kişmir said 2018 would be a year of "firsts" in the rally championship, and announced that the 2018 Rally Championship will open with the Lefke Rally. The second round of the North Cyprus Rally Championship will run over three days as the North Cyprus Rally, held as a Mediterranean Rally with at least 25 cars entered from abroad, and will be the first international event of the season. The Cyprus Rally, part of the European Rally Championship and featuring the Nicosia spectator stage, Cyprus's only bi-communal event, will also award points towards the season.

The Rally Championship, which includes the season's most enjoyable events, the Iskele Rally and the Ovgoroz Rally, will consist of seven events in total, five with a coefficient of 1.0 and two with a coefficient of 1.5. For the first time, an event held abroad will count towards the North Cyprus Rally Championship, with crews starting the Kocaeli Rally, a round of the Turkish Rally Championship, on 20-21 October.

The Hill Climb Championship will begin at St. Hilarion on 8 April and will consist of five rounds in total. Under a new scoring system being used for the first time in the hill climb championship this year, crews will chase the championship title with their best four results from the five events.
