Menderes Makes Fast Start in ERC

The Orhan Avcıoğlu-Burçin Korkmaz and Menderes Okur-Ufuk Uluocak crews, who will contest the FIA European Rally Championship for Toksport WRT in the 2018 season, started the opening round of the championship, Azores Airlines Rallye 2018, held in the Azores on 23-25 March.In an event that attracted 57 crews, the Avcıoğlu-Korkmaz crew, competing with number 28 in a Skoda Fabia R5, crashed out on stage 11, the 21.99km Tronqueira, and retired, while the Okur-Uluocak crew, driving a Subaru Impreza STi, managed to bank very valuable points by finishing fourth in the ERC2 class. Toksport WRT also moved into third place among 14 teams in the FIA European Rally Team Championship with 18 points after the first event.

The second round of the FIA European Rally Championship will continue with Rally Islas Canarias, to be held in the Canary Islands on 3-5 May.
