Founded in 2008 by Borusan Otomotiv to contribute to the development of motorsport in Turkey and to promote the country abroad, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport held its 2018 season launch on Friday 30 March.Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Launches 2018 SeasonOver the past 10 years, the team has competed on four continents, in 20 different countries, at 32 different circuits and in 311 races. Its countless successes include 11 Turkish Circuit Racing Championship drivers' titles and four teams' titles, fifth place in the WTCC (World Championship) teams' standings, second place in the drivers' standings of the ETCC (European Cup) and the drivers' title in Italy's 3H Endurance Champions Cup. Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport is now preparing for the new season with fresh targets.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Launches 2018 SeasonThe press launch, held at BMW Studio, where the team's targets for the new season were announced, began with an opening speech by Borusan Otomotiv Executive Board Chairman Hakan Tiftik. Tiftik said that Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport aims to continue its success on European circuits by investing in young talent in the new season. He then invited Ali Türkkan and Yağız Gedik, who will contest the GT4 European Series in 2018 with the team's new BMW M4 GT4, onto the stage to present the team's young drivers and the new car.Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Launches 2018 SeasonIn 2018, BOM will seek success with its young drivers in the GT4 European Series, one of Europe's major racing series, in which 13 manufacturers, 25 teams and more than 40 cars compete across five countries. As in the past three seasons, the team's experienced drivers Levent Kocabıyık, Fatih Ayhan, Aytaç Biter, Kaan Gürgenç and İbrahim Okyay will also take the start in the 24H Endurance Series on European circuits, aiming to add to the team's recent successes.Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Launches 2018 SeasonCompeting under the title sponsorship of Borusan Otomotiv, with the support of Shell, Borusan Lojistik, Glasurit, Sofra Grup, Özüaydın, Cesan, Securitas and Technogym, the team will contest its first race of the new season at Zolder in Belgium on 7-8 April. Ali Türkkan and Yağız Gedik completed their final tests at the TOSFED Körfez Race Circuit on 26 March in preparation for a strong start to the season.
