Intense Battles at Izmir Park as TOSFED Circuit Cup Opens
The opening race of the season in the TOSFED Circuit Cup took place at Izmir Park on Saturday 18 April. İzmir Ülkü Motorsporları Kulübü hosted an adrenaline-filled weekend, with 14 competitors battling across three separate categories.
The event began with practice and qualifying, after which the competitors in each category fought for a place on the podium over two races. The cars, closely matched in performance, produced fierce fights for the lead. After two 12-lap races, Uygar Birgili took the win in Category 1 and Mehmet Yeğen finished second, both driving a Peugeot 106 GTI.
In Category 2, Muhammed Ali Ülkü took victory in a VW Polo TDi, with Engin Bilgiç second and Galip Atar third in similar cars.
Category 3 was closely contested from start to finish. Ahmet Mutlubaş won in a Honda Civic Type-R, Tamer Dağlı took second in a Renault Clio Sport, and İsmet Toktaş completed the podium in a Honda Civic Type-R.
After the racing, the competitors received their trophies at the awards ceremony from TOSFED President Metin Çeker and İzmir Ülkü Motorsporları Kulübü President Ümit Ülkü. They also earned incentive prizes from the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation: 1,000 TL for the winners, 750 TL for second place and 500 TL for third.
