Turkish drivers Ersin Yücesan and Emir Aşarı, who took part in the three-hour endurance race of the RCN series at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on 26-27 October, finished second in the 18-car V4 class. Yücesan, who is targeting a place in the VLN next season, and Aşarı, who gained experience in this series in 2018, closed the season on the podium after a race in which 157 cars started.
Yücesan and Aşarı on the Podium in RCNDuring qualifying, Yücesan set the second-fastest time on the wet track, but dropped back as the track began to dry and finished the session fifth out of 18 cars. Taking the wheel of the BMW 325i in the opening stint, Aşarı moved up to second at the first corner and entered a fight for the lead with Oscar Sandberg, also a VLN rival. After Sandberg crashed, Aşarı took the lead, pitted in first place and handed the car over to Yücesan. The crew switched to wet tyres earlier than its rivals and dropped to third on pit exit, but then managed to regain second and finished the race on the podium.
Yücesan and Aşarı on the Podium in RCNWith this result, Ersin Yücesan has qualified for a Nürburgring permit in 2019 and will compete with Sorg Rennsport in the 2019 VLN season. The third driver who will race alongside Aşarı and Yücesan has not yet been announced.
