Serkan Yazıcı Re-elected as TOSFED President

The 4th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation was held in Ankara on Saturday 12 November 2016. At the Extraordinary General Assembly, attended by 116 of the 200 delegates, Serkan Yazıcı, the sole candidate in the election following an 11-month interim period, was elected president once again.
The general assembly began with an opening speech by TOSFED Acting President Eren Üçlertoprağı, and at its conclusion Serkan Yazıcı, having renewed the confidence placed in him, was elected to a further four-year term as president. Eren Üçlertoprağı, Onur Sürmeli, Ömer Tolon and Nisa Bozkurt Ersoy continue as members of the board, while Hayri Çavuşoğlu, Recep Tezcan and Orhan Birdal are the new names elected to the board.

Thanking all the delegates who considered both him and the board worthy of the role, and wishing that the new term would be a fruitful and fortunate one for the sport, President Yazıcı said in his speech: "In the coming period we absolutely must become a driver-focused federation. For example, the Belgian Automobile Sports Federation has an annual budget of 7 million dollars and spends no money on organising events – they only develop drivers. As a result, you see Belgian names among the most successful motorsport competitors, and through their sporting success they bring back to their country many times more than that money. Just as in the case of Kenan Sofuoğlu in motorcycling, our sister discipline, we too must now invest in our competitors. A single success by a Turkish driver on the international stage is worth ten events. Placing emphasis on building facilities is also one of the most important points on our roadmap. Without facilities it is hard to develop drivers, and we have already begun work on this. In the coming period we will continue to support organising clubs as we have this year. Our support for competitors will also continue, and we will work with greater emphasis on training seminars for our officials and on safety."
