Tolon Claims Lassa V1 Hat-Trick

Can Tolon claimed a hat-trick of titles in the Lassa V1 Challenge by winning for the third year in a row. Finishing ahead of Burak Çukurova and Yağız Avcı, who arrived at the final race at Körfez Circuit with title ambitions of their own, Tolon was the driver to take the gold trophy.
Körfez Circuit played host to the most exciting race of the season. Intense rivalry, crashes and the fight for the title defined the event. The four points Can Tolon needed were enough to confirm a third championship, and the driver from Izmir set the pace accordingly.
The first race began with Ayhancan, who had shown his speed at Körfez Circuit, starting from the front of the grid. However, Göksun Erkek, who had been missing strong results, made a good start and managed to lead into the first corner. The young driver Ayhancan, with his attacks, took the position back in the following laps. Göksun Erkek finished the race second, while Burak Çukurova, who chased the win until the very end, completed the race in third. Yağız Avcı finished sixth, while Can Tolon took the chequered flag in seventh.
The second race started with the top 12 qualifiers in reverse order. Ümit Erdim, a well-known face on television and a local from Kocaeli, started the second race from the front. Ayhancan Güven, the winner of the first race, started from 12th and moved up the order by passing his rivals, but contact with a competitor sent him off the road and he could only finish 10th. Erdim defended against Can Tolon's attacks and led the race for a long time. Approaching the final laps, contact with Kadir Akça put Ümit Erdim out of the race, and Can Tolon won.
Ali Türkkan, one of VOLKICAR's rising stars, finished the race second, while Yağız Avcı, who was fighting Burak Çukurova for the overall classification, crossed the line in third. Göksun Erkek stood out from the drivers who kept their foot down and were constantly making contact in the second race, finishing fourth, and took the win on the fourth day. After the two races, Göksun Erkek was followed by the young driver Ali Türkkan in second, with Can Tolon completing the day in third. The winning driver took home 10,000 TL, the second-placed driver 4,000 TL and the third-placed driver 2,000 TL.
At the end of the six-round Lassa V1 2015 season, the owners of the gold, silver and bronze VOLKICAR trophies were decided. Can Tolon closed the season on 92 points, while Burak Çukurova with 73 and Yağız Avcı with 71 points took the other trophies.
The class winners were also decided in Lassa V1, the series of choice for drivers who enjoy competing on equal terms, in the Master Cup for drivers over 40 and among young drivers under 23. In the Master Cup, Özgür Gür finished first, Burak Ertem second and Önder Erdem third. Among the future champions, the star driver prospects, Ayhancan Güven finished first, Toprak Candan second and Ali Türkkan third.
