Atar Returns from Valencia with Second Place
National driver Galip Atar returned home after finishing second in the 458 class, just 1.3 seconds off the win, in the opening round of the Ferrari Challenge Europe held in Valencia, Spain.
Atar delivered a strong performance in the first race of a season begun with the aim of winning the European Championship, scoring important points at the Valencia circuit, where the driver was racing for the first time. Making a first start in Valencia, Atar put up a fierce fight against the experienced Holger Harmsen, who has been racing at this track for six years.
After taking the chequered flag just 1.3 seconds behind the rival in Sunday's second race, Atar's target is to finish this demanding seven-race championship as leader of the 458 class.
The Ferrari Challenge Europe will continue with the second round, to be organised on 9-11 June at Italy's famous Monza circuit.
