BOM Opens 2015 Season in Italy

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport is turning a new page for itself and for Turkey in 2015 by competing in two different race series in Europe. Alongside the ETCC (European Touring Car Cup), which it has followed for seven consecutive seasons, the team will also contest the Italian Endurance Champions Cup, with the aim of flying the Turkish flag on the podium at every race.
Having represented Turkey on the international motorsport stage for seven years without a break, and having flown the Turkish flag on the podium four times in the 2014 ETCC season, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will again compete in Europe in 2015. The team will take part in the ETCC, which this season runs to six rounds and 12 races, and in the four-round Italian Endurance Champions Cup, in which it will compete for the first time this year, starting 16 races in Europe in total.
BOM opens the season with the Endurance Champions Cup
Having gained experience in endurance series in recent years with the 24H Dubai, 24H Barcelona, 6H Rome and 12H Hungaroring races, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will this season follow the 3H Italy Endurance Champions Cup for the first time. The first round of the four-race endurance programme will be held on 11 April at Italy's Imola circuit. At the track where the legendary Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna lost his life in a crash, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will field its BMW M3 with Aytaç Biter, Levent Kocabıyık and Fatih Ayhan. Each taking roughly one-hour stints behind the wheel, the drivers will battle both mentally and physically to complete the greatest number of laps and kilometres on the 4,909-metre circuit and its 22 corners.
Nations Cup is the target in the ETCC
In the previous ETCC season, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport used its international experience to reach the podium four times, achieving one of the most important results a Turkish team has taken at European circuits and earning justified pride for both the country and the team. This season BOM is raising its ETCC target, aiming for the upper places in the Nations' Cup, where the result is decided by points scored on behalf of the drivers' countries, and will fight to be the team that scores the most points for Turkey. At the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary, venue of the opening ETCC round, the team will start in two different groups with two cars from its fleet, a BMW 320TC and a BMW 320si. Aytaç Biter will drive the BMW 320TC, while İbrahim Okyay will be at the wheel of the BMW 320si.
