Berkan Kılıç, one of the doyens of Turkish motorsport, passed away on Thursday 27 February.
Born in Bayburt in 1945 and a graduate of Vefa High School, Kılıç began his career in journalism in 1968 as an administrative manager at Günaydın newspaper. The veteran journalist, who went on to serve as a manager at the Meydan, Tercüman, Öncü and Yeniçağ newspapers, held a permanent press card.
Berkan Kılıç, who once served as President of the Istanbul Automobile Sports Club (İSOK) and also held positions at the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, was for many years chairman of the organising committee of the Günaydın Rally.
