Aşarı and Yücesan Make Fast Start to Season

In the opening race of the 2019 season of the VLN (Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring) series, held at Germany's Nürburgring circuit, Turkish drivers Emir Aşarı and Ersin Yücesan made a rapid start to the season, finishing fourth among 21 cars in the V4 class.
In qualifying for the season opener, our representatives were forced to return to the pits because of yellow flags on the circuit following a crash involving rivals, and they ended the session ninth. In the race, the first to take the wheel was Emir Aşarı, who competes with DorockXL sponsorship. Starting the race from ninth, Aşarı made a series of successful moves to climb as high as fourth before handing the car over to Ersin Yücesan. After refuelling, Yücesan, who competes with EcuFast sponsorship, left the pits in 11th, rose back to fourth over the following laps and finished the race in that position. The four-hour endurance race was completed in just 2 hours 45 minutes because of fog, which, like many crews, affected our representatives' strategy negatively. Despite this setback, our drivers, competing in a BMW 325i, returned from the first race of the season with a trophy, making a successful start to the campaign.
On a weekend when a total of 171 cars from different categories raced at the same time, another Turkish driver, Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, also managed to finish first in the category at the wheel of a Mercedes AMG GT4 alongside foreign team-mates...
We congratulate our drivers and wish them every success in round two of the 2019 VLN series, to be held at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on 13 April.
