Ali and Yağız Return from Hungary with Points

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport travelled to the famous Hungaroring in Hungary for Round 5 of the GT4 European Series, where young drivers Ali Türkkan and Yağız Gedik are competing this season in the team's new BMW M4 GT4. The circuit, which is roughly 4 km long, hosted a colourful and demanding contest featuring 43 cars from 17 manufacturers and 86 drivers.

The crew could not continue its laps after contact with a rival on the second lap of the first qualifying session involving Yağız Gedik, and started 33rd in the first race and 40th in the second. In Saturday's opening race, Yağız Gedik made a strong start. A well-judged pit-stop strategy, and Ali Türkkan maintaining the same pace after taking over the wheel, lifted the team to 22nd overall and 10th in the Silver class, earning valuable points.
Sunday's race, the second of the weekend and the tenth of the season, was also a colourful and tough battle, with intermittent rain falling throughout. Ali made a good start in the crowded grid and, with a strong performance, passed many rivals, bringing the car into the pit stop in 21st place. Yağız Gedik, who took over for the second half of the race, lost time behind the safety car that was deployed after a crash on the start-finish straight, and finished the race 27th overall and 14th in the class.

Competing with Borusan Otomotiv as title sponsor and the support of Shell, Borusan Lojistik, Glasurit, Sofra Grup, Özüaydın, Cesan, Securitas and Technogym, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will head to the Nürburgring on 15-16 September for the sixth and final round of the championship.
