Yazıcı Bids Farewell as TOSFED President

Serkan Yazıcı, President of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, has officially announced that he is stepping down as TOSFED president, following the announcement today of his candidacy for Mayor of Marmaris.
Beginning his statement by wishing good health and happiness and congratulating the whole motorsport community on the new year, President Yazıcı said: "From the day we were elected until today, you have never withheld your support from us. By developing very successful projects together, we have taken our sport to where it should be – to the 'summit'. Thanks to the international successes we have achieved and the events we have organised, we have become one of Turkey's most important sports federations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all. Had you not been by our side throughout this process, we could never have achieved any of this.

We have made every effort to date to spread motorsport to wider audiences. On this road, our President and our Minister of Youth and Sports have given us enormous support. By never withholding their help, they have shown that they will never leave us alone.
Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done. But as we were moving forward on this road, our President, deeming me worthy of the candidacy for Mayor of Marmaris, put the proposal to me. We were honoured and accepted. Because of the mayoral candidacy proposed by our President, we have had to leave the presidency of our federation. I think you all know how much I love this sport and how many dreams I have for its development. With the support of our President, our Minister of Youth and Sports and myself personally, these dreams will be carried on by our new president and board of directors who will take up the role. I ask that you have not the slightest doubt about this.
Furthermore, whatever position I hold, I want you to know that I will work for motorsport for as long as my means and my life allow. On this occasion, I owe thanks, on behalf of myself and our board of directors, first of all for the support you showed me and our Board in the TOSFED presidential election, and then for standing with us in all our activities. I extend my thanks to all our club presidents and their officials, our marshals and stewards, our provincial representatives, our competitors, our teams, TOSFED staff, motorsport fans, members of the media, the staff and officials of our Ministry of Youth and Sports, our Director General of Sports, the President of the Spor Toto Organisation, our Minister of Youth and Sports and our President, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has never withheld his personal support from us."
