TOSFED Gala Night Held at Zorlu PSM
The 2022 season awards in motorsport were handed out to their winners at the TOSFED Gala Night, held at Zorlu PSM on 7 January.
Many figures from the worlds of sport, business and high society attended the ceremony, at which the drivers and teams who finished on top in the Turkish Championships in rally, circuit racing, off-road, karting, drifting, hill climb, rallycross and classic car disciplines, as well as in the TOSFED Baja, Karting and Rally cups, received their awards. The evening also saw plaques presented to organising clubs, sponsors, provincial representatives and provincial stewards' boards, and to drivers who won championships by following series abroad.
Opening the evening, TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı said: "I am delighted to be together with you again after a very exciting season in which, thanks to our clubs, we staged a total of 105 racing events. Beyond the racing, we have just watched together the social responsibility projects we carry out as TOSFED to spread our shared passion, 'the love of the automobile', to the grassroots by involving our children, young people and women. This year we have also further strengthened our federation's financial footing with a title sponsor such as ICRYPEX. Everyone in this hall, all of us, has put work and effort into every frame you have seen so far and will see tonight. Following meticulous work on the 2023 season, we will publish our regulations and our calendar next week."
President Üçlertoprağı concluded his speech: "Among our key innovations, I would like to announce that next year baja and rallycross will be run with Turkish Championship status, that the TOSFED Rally Cup will be held in memory of Erkan Bodur, who recently passed away, and that a brand-new rally will join the calendar in 2023 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic. In front of such a distinguished audience gathered here tonight, I would like to extend my thanks to those who support us, first and foremost our Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Spor Toto Organisation Directorate, as well as our club presidents, all our sponsors, all our volunteer officials and stewards, my colleagues at the federation, our media representatives, and Zorlu Enerji for opening the doors of such a prestigious venue to us. I congratulate all the drivers, teams and brands who finished on top in their disciplines in the 2022 season."
