2021 Season Named in Honour of Demir Berberoğlu

The Board of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) has decided that all disciplines in the 2021 season will be run under the title "Demir Berberoğlu Season". The new motorsport season will therefore carry the name of Demir Berberoğlu, a former TOSFED President who passed away on 22 December.

TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı said: "As the TOSFED management, we will continue to keep alive the names of the great figures who have contributed to the development of motorsport. Following the Board meeting we held today, we have decided to give the 2021 season the name of Demir Berberoğlu, one of our former Presidents, who worked for and contributed to the development of motorsport both as President and as a competitor. The 2021 motorsport season will be known by the name of our President Demir Berberoğlu, who passed away on 22 December. In addition, the Şevki Gökerman Rally Cup and the naming rights of our championship sponsors will continue as previously announced."

Born in Ankara in 1953, Demir Berberoğlu developed a passion for motorsport at a young age. He began his racing career at the 1971 Hitit Rally and had continued to compete actively ever since. Berberoğlu took office as President at the end of TOSFED's Ordinary General Assembly on 9 November 2012.
