Okyay and Ülkü Crowned Champions in Circuit Racing
The final races of the 2016 Turkish Circuit Racing Championship were organised by Ülkü Motorsporları Kulübü at the Izmir Ülkü Park Circuit on 14-15 October. Contested in two separate categories, Super and Maxi, the races were run over 20 laps. With the V1 Challenge and the Opel Corsa OPC Cup races also taking place on the same dates, spectators were treated to a colourful and action-packed weekend.
A total of 13 drivers, racing for Ülkü Motorsport, Gedik Ebam Racing Team and Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport, took part. In Super, Ümit Ülkü and Yağız Gedik took the race wins, while in the Maxi class Bilal Saygılı, driving a BMW Z4 GT3, and İbrahim Okyay were the victors. Bilal Saygılı also set a new lap record at the Izmir Ülkü Park circuit with a time of 52.129 in qualifying.
After the final races of the season, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport driver İbrahim Okyay claimed the title in the Maxi class, while Ülkü Motorsport driver Ümit Ülkü took the Super class championship...
