The third race of the Lassa V1 season was held at Izmir Ülkü Circuit on Sunday 30 August. The race was stopped twice by red flags, with Yağız Avcı emerging as the winner on the day. Marked by crashes and surprises, the race had viewers watching at home on the edge of their seats.

The Lassa V1 season resumed after the summer break with the race in Izmir. The hot weather put both drivers and cars under pressure, and the Izmir round saw young talents battle with experienced names. Can Tolon lost in Izmir for the first time, while Yağız Avcı took the race win and the lead of the cup.

AYHANCAN TAKES QUALIFYING AND THE FIRST RACE

Ayhancan Güven, who competes in the juniors class and aims to become an F1 driver in the future, set the fastest time in qualifying to secure pole position. With 19 drivers separated by just 2 seconds, the first signs were there that the race would be a thrilling one. The start of the first race set off a storm of excitement. Izmir-born champion Can Tolon, who had not achieved the result he wanted in qualifying, fought his rivals with an aggressive style. Ayhancan completed his laps without once looking behind to protect his lead, with Koray Muratoğlu following him. However, on lap 9, Arda Çınarlık became caught up in the fight between Fahir Talib and Ümit Erdim at the back of the field and rolled, causing the race to be stopped. After the spectacular roll, more than 80% of the race had been completed, so the classification was declared on the order at the end of lap 9 and the remaining laps were not run.

RED FLAGS DECIDE THE RESULT OF THE DAY

The second Lassa V1 race started calmly. The drivers, who did not touch each other for the first two laps, could not stay calm as the laps went by. While making an attack, Can Tolon lost control of his car and collided head-on with Ali Türkkan. The champion's car caught fire after the contact and was pulled to the side of the track, where the fire was put out. The race, stopped with a red flag, was restarted with a standing-start procedure after the fire was extinguished, closing up the gap between the drivers lined up on the start straight. With the second start of the second race, the Izmir Park circuit was thrown into chaos again. Leader Mert Aytuğ, a former Seat Cup winner, again did not get what he expected and dropped back. Göksun Erkek, who has had an unlucky season, once again failed to break his run of bad luck, while Yağız Avcı rose above the chaos to win both the second race and the day.

NEW GENERATION MAKES ITSELF HEARD ON THE PODIUM

In the race that Yağız Avcı led to the finish with his experience, 2011 V1 champion Burak Çukurova managed to take second place in a stressful race that he kept under control. Young driver Ayhancan Güven took the final step of the podium. Having started in motorsport through a karting career and achieved many successes, Ayhancan is preparing for the competition awaiting in the future with VOLKICAR.

Once again, in Lassa V1, which offers great opportunities for young drivers, an under-23 driver stood on the podium and won a cash prize of 2,000 TL. Runner-up Burak Çukurova took home 4,000 TL, while Yağız Avcı won 10,000 TL.

Yağız Avcı leads the cup after three rounds, with Burak Çukurova second. The next Lassa V1 race will be held at İzmit Körfez Circuit on 13 September and broadcast live on NTV Spor. Lassa V1, the domestic motorsport cup with Lassa as title sponsor, continues to blow through like a storm in its fifth season.
