Classics Take Over Marmaris

The 19th Western Anatolia Classic Car Race, organised by the Classic Car Club with the support of Marmaris Municipality and Olive Farm, took place from 13-15 May as part of the Marmaris Auto Sport Fest. Thirty-eight classic cars from many different regions of Turkey, the oldest a 1952 Citroen B11, added plenty of colour to the festival, which was held in Marmaris for the first time.
After three days of competition on the Marmaris-Datça-Dalyan route, Ecem Araman-Gizem Araman won in a 1969 Peugeot 504 Cabrio, while Zeki Baştürk-İbrahim Tunç finished second in a 1980 BMW 316 and Yunus Üstün-Han Ataç took third in a 1957 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. The event's prize-giving ceremony was held on the evening of 15 May in the ballroom of the Grand Yazıcı Club Turban, where awards were presented to the drivers who finished on the podium in the overall classification and in the individual classes.
