Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Returns from Acropolis Rally with Victory
Castrol Ford Team Türkiye, which has claimed countless victories and championship titles on Turkish rally stages without pause, is returning from its second event in the European Rally Championship with a win, in line with its new objectives. Murat Bostancı and Onur Vatansever finished as ERC3 class winners at last weekend's Acropolis Rally in Greece, a result that makes the pair one of the championship's leading contenders. While Murat Bostancı and Onur Vatansever took the win in their class, fellow Castrol Ford Team Türkiye crews Buğra Banaz and Burak Erdener, and Ümitcan Özdemir and Sevilay Genç, also reached the finish without any problems, completing this tough rally successfully to add another achievement to the team's record. Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Team Director Serdar Bostancı said: "We have set out on a new path to show the success of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye drivers outside Turkey too, and we are delighted to have won one of the toughest, even punishing, rallies along the way. Racing on four fronts at a very busy pace, our next target as Castrol Ford Team Türkiye is to win Rally Marmaris Türkiye next weekend."
Having added to its achievements in 2015 by winning both the Drivers' and Teams' Championship titles, Castrol Ford Team Türkiye returns home after successfully completing last weekend's Acropolis Rally in Greece, as part of its new long-term goals built around winning major honours in Europe as well. Murat Bostancı and Onur Vatansever finished as ERC3 class winners at the Acropolis Rally, holding on to the lead they took at the end of the first day all the way to the finish, and the result makes the pair one of the contenders in the European Rally Championship.
Murat Bostancı said: "We started the rally with a little bad luck on the first day: we got stuck behind a car that had rolled and lost time. However, the rain that fell at the end of the first day gave us the chance to put together a special strategy. We made good use of that opportunity and, after taking the lead, we won the rally with a controlled drive, more than two minutes ahead of our closest rival at the finish. We are happy, because we had prepared very well. I thank the whole team for their contribution." The other Castrol Ford Team Türkiye crews at the Acropolis Rally, Buğra Banaz and Burak Erdener, and Ümitcan Özdemir and Sevilay Genç, also reached the finish without any problems, completing this tough rally successfully to add another achievement to the team's record.
