A Festival Atmosphere at Kemalpaşa

The third round of the 2015 Turkish Hill Climb Championship was organised by the Aegean Automobile Sports Club (EOSK) on 30-31 May. Held over two runs on the 6.51-kilometre tarmac course on the Spil Dağı road in Izmir's Kemalpaşa district, the event drew 22 competitors in four separate classes from Bursa, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya.
Organised with Kemalpaşa Municipality as title sponsor and with the support of Atarlar Petrol and Ramada Hotel Kemalpaşa, the event began on Sunday 31 May with practice runs between 09:30 and 11:00, and the first start of the competition was given at 13:00.
In Class 1, Bursa's Engin Apaydın, competing for Ülkü Motorsport in a Citroen Saxo VTS, took the win, followed by Bursa's Burak Başlık in a Fiat Palio. Mehmet Yeğen, driving a Peugeot 106 GTI for Ülkü Motorsport, took the final podium place.
In Class 2, Egemen Çivicioğlu of Izmir, driving a Citroen Saxo VTS for Pegasus Racing, claimed his first win of the season in his home city. His Izmir-based team-mate Murat Soyçopur took second in a Fiat Punto S1600, while Galip Atar, also from Izmir, completed the podium in an Opel Corsa S1600 for Ülkü Motorsport.
In Class 3, Ankara's young driver Refik Bozkurt took his second win of the season, finishing first in a Renault Clio Sport. Bursa's Osman Uğur, who continues to contest the championship with a broken right hand, took second in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX. Bursa's Honda Civic Type-R driver İsmet Toktaş, competing for Ülkü Motorsport, left the Kemalpaşa Hill Climb with third place.
In Class 4, last year's champion Ümit Ülkü set the fastest time of the day in a Porsche 997 GT3 with a 4.14,221, and also won his class. Ayhan Germirli, driving a Renault Clio Sport for Pegasus Racing, finished second. Selim Bacıoğlu decided to withdraw from the event after practice because of a technical problem on his new Peugeot 207.
