KAMOK Round Two Delivers Breathtaking Action
Round two of the Karadeniz Local Off-road Cup (KAMOK) was held in Giresun on 23-24 May 2015. As part of the events at the 38th International Black Sea Giresun Aksu Festival, the public showed great interest in the ceremonial start and city parade on Saturday 23 May, where the competing vehicles were presented.
In the Gemilerçekeği stage of the event, made up of 15 gates, 14 competitors started and three sections of four laps each were run, with 11 vehicles stopped along the way.
Giresun Off-road Club President Abdülkadir Güneysu said the club wished to thank all its members who contributed at every stage of the organisation and on the track prepared on the shores of the rough waves, in order to show how Giresun, born in the Black Sea's unique highland pastures, and its local people can share their passion for adrenaline in the safest possible way. He also thanked Giresun Mayor Kerim AKSU and Giresun Governor Hasan Karahan, who did not leave the club alone with their support, the people of Giresun, who shared their passion for off-roading, and, most importantly, TOSFED President Metin Çeker, whose world-standard work brings sports clubs together. He stressed the great value of this event, held as part of the International Black Sea Giresun Aksu Festival, in sharing with the whole world the sport of off-roading, which makes the most important contribution to highland tourism, an important part of the region's tourism.
Event director Özcan Afacan added: "Our priority at the event in Giresun was to put in place safety measures for both competitors and spectators and to provide an enjoyable contest. We apologise to participants and spectators if our attention to detail became tiresome, but these are matters that must never be neglected. Finally, I thank all the administrative and civil authorities in particular, along with the participants and the people of Giresun, for their support. I share the happiness and pride of concluding a fine event, free of accidents and problems, in which people enjoyed exciting moments and left happy. I hope we will meet again at other national events in this sport in the future."
