27 Crews Do Battle in Sakarya

The 1st Local Sakarya Off-road Race, organised by 54 Otomobil Sporları Kulübü in Sakarya on Sunday 24 May, was completed as a successful event. A total of 32 crews registered and 27 took the start, and the event was also attended by Sakarya Governor Hüseyin Avni COŞ, Police Chief Osman BABADAĞI, SATSO President Mahmut KÖSEMUSUL and TOSFED President Metin ÇEKER.
Governor Hüseyin Avni ÇOŞ led the way behind the wheel of an off-road vehicle, together with Metin ÇEKER and 54 Otomobil Sporları Kulübü president Murat BALCI, and they drove the whole course together. The Governor said he was pleased that such an event was being held in the province.
After a closely fought race, Engin BAŞKURT-Serdar ATABEY finished first in Class 1, Tümay ŞENGÖZ-Emrah ÖZTOR second and Şehmus OĞUZ-Ali Kemal OKUR third. In Class 2, Uğur KIZIL-İsmail Alper ALTAN took the win, ahead of Onur ALPTEKİN-Tamer AKDAĞ in second and Ceyhun KILIÇ-Batuhan KORKUT in third. In Class 3, İsmail AYHAN-Cemal AKAGÜNDÜZ claimed the class win, while Yunus AYHAN-Bilal KARAMEMİŞ finished second and İlyas SÖNMEZ-Dağhan BEREKET third. In Class 4, Hasan ARMUTÇU-Zuhal BACAK were the fastest of the day, with Kubilay TÜFEKÇİ-Nihat KESKİN second and Cenk GÜRPINAR-Samet AYGÜL third. In the overall classification, İsmail AYHAN-Cemal AKAGÜNDÜZ finished first, Yunus AYHAN-Bilal KARAMEMİŞ second and Hasan ARMUTÇU-Zuhal BACAK third.
