Borusan Drivers Top the Podium in Italy

Turkey's champion racing team Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport, with national drivers Levent Kocabıyık, Fatih Ayhan and Aytaç Biter, took another significant result in Round 2 of the 2016 3H Endurance Champions Cup, held as a night race on 7-8 May. Their BMW Z4 GT3 won the GT3 class and finished third overall, behind two Formula-type cars.
A total of 15 crews and 36 drivers competed in the three-hour race at Misano World Circuit in Italy. Avelon Formula Team took the chequered flag first overall with its Avelon Formula Wolf cars, Scuderia Bİ&Bİ was second with its Taatus Formula PY012 cars, and Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport was third with its BMW Z4 GT3 cars. The top three overall crews finished back to back on 102 laps of the 4.226-kilometre Misano circuit, ensuring a fierce battle that lasted until the very end.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport won GT3, the class for series-production sports cars, stepping onto the top step of the podium at Misano and experiencing the joy and pride of hearing the Turkish national anthem played. Over the three hours, Aytaç Biter, Fatih Ayhan and Levent Kocabıyık each drove a one-hour stint in that order, and the Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport drivers delivered an error-free performance across 102 laps. The Turkish crew in the BMW Z4 GT3 completed the class podium in first place, ahead of an Italian crew in a Porsche 997 GT3R in second and a Swiss crew in a Mercedes SLS GT3 in third.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport, which races with Borusan Otomotiv as title sponsor and the support of Shell, Borusan Lojistik and Glasurit, will contest its next race at the Rijeka circuit in Croatia on 11-12 June.
