İSOFF Challenge Awards Find Their Winners
At the 2016 İSOFF Challenge awards ceremony and gala night, trophies were presented to the competitors who finished on the podium in the cup's overall classification and classes, and plaques were handed to the organisations that supported the series. The evening, attended by competitors, İSOFF members, TOSFED officials, members of the Istanbul Stewards' Panel, members of the press and sponsors, also marked the club's 24th anniversary. Entertaining footage from last year's activities was shown, and surprise events for 2017 were announced.
Before the awards ceremony, plaques were presented to the members and institutions that support İSOFF. Then, for the first time, the young drivers who competed in the 2016 İSOFF Challenge were invited on stage. Many of them are candidates to win countless trophies in the years ahead, and received their first cups from İSOFF to applause.
After the class trophies, the 2016 İSOFF Challenge overall classification trophies found their winners amid applause. Two drivers and co-drivers who finished the 2016 season level on points earned the right to receive the runner-up trophy. The 2016 İSOFF Challenge winner's trophy went to the Hürriyet Grit - Selçuk Sarı crew.
The special surprise of the night was BAJA Troia, announced by İSOFF President Erkan Birinci in a spectacular presentation on a giant LED screen. BAJA Troia, which İSOFF will organise in Turkey for the first time, will be run in October 2017 as the fifth round of the six-event Eastern European BAJA calendar. The events, held in four countries with 4x4 vehicles, will visit Turkey for a round whose route has been set in the Çanakkale and North Aegean region.
While the cars of the drivers who took overall classification trophies were displayed on stage, the İSOFF Gala Night was enlivened by the traditional prize draws and, after the cake ceremony, a surprise marching band performance. Nearly 200 guests ignored the rain and enjoyed the night until the small hours beside the competition cars, dancing to music by the light of fires burning in barrels.
