Drivers from Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport and Ülkü Motorsport represented Turkey with success in the opening race of the European Touring Car Cup.

In a hard-fought event held at Hungary's Hungaroring on 2-3 May, Aytaç Biter claimed important points with second place in both races in the TC2T category.

Another Turkish driver competing in the TC2T class, Ümit Ülkü, made a rapid start to his first ETCC campaign by setting the second-fastest time in qualifying. In the first race, Ülkü lost time with a pit stop after contact and dropped back to fourth, while Galip Atar finished third in the TC2T class. Ülkü completed the second race in third place, with Galip Atar in fourth.

Another Turkish competitor in the TC2 class, İbrahim Okyay, climbed up the order at the start and took the lead of the group, but finished the race fourth in the class.

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport, competing with the support of Toshiba, Borusan Lojistik and Glasurit, will next contest the second round of the Italy Endurance Champions Cup at Italy's Monza circuit on 22-23 May.

Ülkü Motorsport drivers Ümit Ülkü and Galip Atar, who compete with the support of Nachi, Fakir, Arzum and Shell Atarlar, will line up at the start of the Porsche Benelux Cup race at Belgium's Zolder circuit on 6-7 June.
