Selection Rounds Take Place in August at Körfez

Applications were accepted between 1 and 31 May from dozens of provinces, from Çanakkale to Gaziantep, Tekirdağ to Kastamonu and Muğla to Giresun, and the list of candidates who will take part in the selection rounds has now been finalised. After applicants with missing information or paperwork, or who did not meet the criteria, were eliminated, 333 candidates, 22 of them women, qualified for the selection rounds. 
SELECTION ROUNDS AT IZMIT KÖRFEZ CIRCUIT
The selection rounds, for which all the equipment used by candidates will be provided by TOSFED and FIAT, will be held on 10-11-12-13 August at the TOSFED Körfez Race Circuit in Izmit, Kocaeli. Run with specially prepared Fiat Egea race cars, the selection rounds will take a gymkhana format, and each candidate will complete the course three times: one warm-up lap and two timed laps.
Candidates must be ready at the TOSFED Körfez Race Circuit at 09:00 on their announced days. They will first report to the registration desk, where they will have their driving licence checked and their height and weight measured, before receiving their licences and lanyard passes. A group briefing will follow, covering the rules that will apply during the selection rounds and the points to watch out for when driving.
After the briefing, all candidates will first complete their warm-up laps, followed by the timed laps on which the selection will be based. The timed laps will be measured by TOSFED officials using photocell-triggered chrono printers accurate to 1/100 of a second, and each candidate's best lap will be taken into account. Every cone or barrier contact in designated sections of the course will add 2 seconds to the candidate's time. Details of these contacts will be explained to candidates in full on the course map at the briefing.
Candidates found to have acted unsportingly and/or deliberately tried to damage the car will be excluded by the organising committee.
FINALS AND TRAINING CAMP IN SEPTEMBER
After four days of selection rounds, 45 candidates will qualify for the finals in September: 10 male drivers from each group, plus 5 female drivers from the women's selection round to be held on Sunday.
The candidates will attend a two-day camp, again at the TOSFED Körfez Race Circuit, with accommodation costs covered by TOSFED. During the camp they will receive theoretical and practical training in advanced driving techniques and sporting driving techniques, and will compete against the clock at the end of the second day. Ten male and two female drivers will earn the right to compete in the 'TOSFED Is Searching for a Star' project.
