Çorum Races for Turkey

HİTOK Club staged a slalom event on Sunday 17 May under the slogan "Çorum Races for Turkey".

The competition, which was split into two categories, men and women, attracted competitors from Çorum itself as well as from the provinces of Amasya, Samsun and Tokyo. The event, which was held with the support of the Çorum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by AK Party Çorum MP Salim Uslu, Mayor Muzaffer Külcü, AK Party parliamentary candidate Ahmet Sami CEYLAN, Garrison Commander Colonel Ahmet ÇELİK, Police Chief Salih Erkan TARANCI, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Haşim EĞER, Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Çetin BAŞARANHINCAL, Council Speaker Erol KARAKAŞ and a large number of motorsport fans.

Salim Uslu and Muzaffer Külcü gave the starting signal for the event. After a Volkicar demonstration run, members of the protocol took the wheel for a FRIENDSHIP DRIVE, tackling the slalom course. Once the friendship drive was over, the competition got under way and produced some closely fought moments. In the men's category, the top three were separated by mere seconds.

The Volkicar, Turkey's first original race car, took the crowd's breath away with its displays. Volkan Işık Akademi instructor and driver Alişan ÖZKAN earned great applause from the spectators with his action-packed manoeuvres.

At the trophy ceremony held at the end of the event, the top finishers received their awards. HİTOK Honorary President Hikmet BURHANOĞLU presented the trophies to the leading finishers in the women's category, while HİTOK President Mehmet ÖZENÇ handed over the trophies to the men's category finishers.
