Battle Against the Mud

Held as the TOSFED Cup last season, the trial discipline was upgraded to Turkish Championship status this year after attracting great interest, and its season opener took place in Istanbul on 14-15 March.

The first trial event of the season, organised by İstanbul Offroad Kulübü (İSOFF) at Kemerburgaz-Çiftalan with sponsorship from Huma Oto, produced colourful competition over two days. Nine teams, each made up of 2 vehicles and 4 competitors, took part in an event that put the unique rules of trial, mutual assistance and the off-road spirit to the fore. On a course made far tougher by wet weather, trial being a competition based on getting through obstacles and gates as a team, the participants sweated to clear every obstacle in the shortest possible time.

After two days of tough competition, the Teleferik Offroad team, made up of the crews of Ahmet Kurt-Fuat Sarper and Şencan Özkurt-İsa Üstündağ, who travelled to the event from Bursa, took the win. Team Mobil1, made up of the crews of Ertan Uçar-Mehmet Berat Atagül and Hakan Çarker-Ayhan Ademoğlu, finished second, while AVC Team, made up of the crews of Adnan Ofluoğlu-Selçuk Akan and Devrim Öztürk-Nurullah Ateş, took third. In the local class, which featured 3 teams, victory went to Kobroff, made up of Ahmet Çepni-Hakan İşen and Burak Ayvaz-Aren Antil.
