Çağlayan Makes a Fast Start to the Season

The opening races of the 2019 Turkish Circuit Racing Championship were organised by the Kocaeli Otomobil Sporları Kulübü (KOSDER) at the TOSFED Körfez Race Track on 21-22 June, with 28 competitors taking part across 3 separate categories…
Following practice and qualifying on Friday 21 June, two 20-lap races were held in each of the 3 groups on Sunday. The super production group, introduced this year and attracting the biggest entry, saw a fierce fight in both races. In a group dominated by the Opel Corsa OPCs, young driver Hasan Tansu won the first race, with Vedat Dalokay second and Turgut Konukoğlu third. In the second race of the day, Bursa-based driver Çağlayan Çelik took the top step of the podium, with Hasan Tansu second and Turgut Konukoğlu third. After racing a Seat Leon TCR in the Turkish Circuit Racing Championship in 2017, Çelik competed in the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland series last year, and has made a fast return to Turkish circuits after a season away.The second round of the 2019 Turkish Circuit Racing Championship will again be held at the TOSFED Körfez Race Track on 27-28 July.
