Güney Altuner Wins the BOM Academy Cup

The BOM Academy Cup, organised by Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport, came to an end with the round four races held at Izmir Race Track on 29 October 2017.
Sunday began with the national anthem and a minute's silence before the start. In the final round, run over two races, Güney Altuner qualified second, right behind the experienced Haluk Ege, and went on to win the first race in the battle of the Caterhams. Batur Kızıltepe took second place in a race that produced some enjoyable battles, with Muratcan Eğilmez third.
Güney Altuner Wins the BOM Academy CupThe second race of the day, the eighth and final one of the season, began with a ceremonial lap in which the drivers waved Turkish flags. Haluk Ege and Barkın Bayhan took the first two positions with good starts and held them throughout the race. Just behind them, the battle for third between Güney Altuner, Yaman Yılmaz and Muratcan Eğilmez was well worth watching. Güney Altuner, a karting graduate from Uşak, won that fight and took third place.
Güney Altuner Wins the BOM Academy CupIn the 50+ class, where the experienced drivers enjoyed a friendly rivalry, Bülent Solmaz won the first race and Aytuğ Sakallıoğlu the second.
At the end of the racing, students with autism from the Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation Special Education Job Application Centre School, who presented the drivers with pictures they had painted themselves, climbed into the BOM Academy Cup cars and had their photographs taken with the drivers.

Güney Altuner Wins the BOM Academy CupGüney Altuner, the winner of the weekend, also moved up to first place in the overall standings on the points he accumulated over the season, becoming the 2017 BOM Academy Cup champion. The crew of Yaman Yılmaz and Ahmet Armağan finished second in the cup, while Muratcan Eğilmez took third.
