Berkay Gaining Experience in the Clio

The 18-year-old young national driver Berkay Besler was at Vallelunga on 9-10 September for round five of the Renault Clio Cup Italia series, which the driver is following this season. Having moved into circuit racing after 10 years of karting experience, Besler left a weekend contested over two separate races with a great deal of valuable experience.
DYO, CMS and Coşkunöz Holding backed Berkay, who said after the race that it had been an unlucky weekend at Vallelunga but one in which plenty of experience was gained. Besler explained that a mechanical failure kept the car off the track during practice, but in the qualifying sessions that followed the driver secured fifth on the grid for the first race and fourth for the second.
Besler summed up the weekend: "In the first race we lost a lot of time after contact following the start and could only finish 12th. In the second race, rain before the start left the track half wet and half dry, which made tyre choice very difficult for all the drivers. On this surface, which gave us a very tough and different experience, we took the chequered flag in fifth." Besler will complete the season at the final round, to be held at Imola on 30 September-1 October…
