Minister Kasapoğlu Receives Güven

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu received national motorsport driver Ayhancan Güven, winner of the FIA GT Nations Cup, saying that Güven, together with Salih Yoluç, had made Turkey enormously proud: "I have no doubt that he will represent our country and our flag in the best possible way in even bigger events."

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu met Ayhancan Güven, who won the title together with Salih Yoluç in the FIA GT Nations Cup, held for the first time this year in the Bahraini capital Manama with 18 countries taking part. Minister Kasapoğlu said that Güven, together with Salih Yoluç, had made Turkey enormously proud, adding: "I have no doubt that he will represent our country and our flag in the best possible way in even bigger events."

Salih Yoluç, who has travelled to Japan to take part in the Asian Le Mans Series, was not present at the reception held at the Minister's office, while the President of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), Serkan Yazıcı, attended. Before the meeting, a video featuring footage from the FIA GT Nations Cup was screened.

Congratulating Ayhancan Güven on the historic achievement, Minister Dr. Mehmet Kasapoğlu said: "You made a fine start in the inaugural FIA GT Nations Cup. You gave us great joy and pride over the weekend. Seeing our crescent-and-star flag at the top and hearing our national anthem played is a wonderful feeling. We have no doubt that from now on, in even bigger events, he will represent our country and our flag in the best possible way. We trust in him. We also thank your family. They have contributed too. Together we will await those even more exciting moments."

Thanking TOSFED President Serkan Yazıcı and the entire team behind the success, Minister Kasapoğlu said that the Ministry would continue to stand by them in every respect, as it has done before.
Ayhancan Güven said they were happy to have won one of the most important achievements in motorsport on behalf of Turkey. Thanking Minister Kasapoğlu for the support, Güven said: "The Minister received us and honoured us. God willing, our successes will keep growing. We will make our country even prouder."

TOSFED President Serkan Yazıcı said he believes Ayhancan Güven will become one of the best drivers Turkey has ever had, adding: "The biggest share in Ayhancan's success story belongs to our Minister. It is thanks to the support that came from the Spor Toto Organisation Directorate under our Minister and has continued to this day."
Yazıcı also said that the car Ayhancan Güven will drive in the World Championship next season will be presented in İzmit, and that they would like to see Minister Kasapoğlu at the event and have him take a lap with Güven. Minister Kasapoğlu replied to the invitation: "I am looking forward to it with excitement."

After the reception, Ayhancan Güven presented Minister Dr. Mehmet Kasapoğlu with the helmet he used while competing in the FIA GT Nations Cup.
