National driver Ayhancan Güven, supported by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation with contributions from Spor Toto, finished third in both races of the Porsche Carrera Cup France and Benelux round, which featured 35 drivers from different countries. The 19-year-old talent also completed the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux series, which he has been following this season, with a win in both races.
Ayhancan Makes History in SpainStarting fourth in the first race, Güven made a superb move to climb to third and, in his Turkish flag-liveried car, never lost touch with the leading group. The driver defended that position well and took the chequered flag in third.
Ayhancan Makes History in SpainAyhancan set the second-fastest time in qualifying for Sunday's second race, but the time was deleted for exceeding track limits and, with no other lap time on the board, the driver started the race from 30th. However, Güven passed 15 rivals ahead on the very first lap after the start and began moving up the order. In the rain that began during the race, Ayhancan overtook experienced rivals one by one with moves on every lap, continued the climb through to the final lap and, with one lap to go, moved up to third to take a place on the podium.
Ayhancan Makes History in SpainWe congratulate our young driver, who became the most talked-about and eye-catching star of the weekend, and wish continued success at the Porsche Carrera Cup France final, which will be held at the Paul Richard circuit in France on 14–15 October.
