2016 Rulebook Announced
The rules for rally, historic rally, circuit racing, karting, off-road, trial, rallycross, hill climb, drifting and classic car events to be run nationally in the Turkish Championship format in the 2016 season have been announced.
In addition, the General Regulations, Supplementary Event Regulations, Local Cup Rules, Local Drag Racing Rules, Slalom Rules, Other Sporting Activities, and the Open Group and Group H Technical Instructions have also come into force, having been published on the official TOSFED website.
In the Turkish Rally Championship, the headline changes include the introduction of a power stage (bonus stage) to increase competition, a mandatory shakedown (test run) at all rallies, a requirement to enter all 7 of the 7 rallies, changes to the points system, the opening of an Open Group, historic and national classes competing together in a mixed classification, and a tyre limitation...
In the Turkish Circuit Racing Championship, the new season will see cars complying with FIA GT3 homologation compete in the Maxi Group, and cars complying with FIA Circuit Super 2000 homologation compete in the Super Group.
In off-road, changes have been made to the stage arrangements, the scope of the Super Off-road format has been revised, and a new door number system has been introduced in the classes.
While there are no major changes in trial, karting, hill climb, rallycross and classic car, one of the biggest novelties of the season is the rising profile of motorsport, with drifting being promoted to national status and moving to a four-round Turkish Championship format.
