TransAnatolia 2020 Gets Under Way

Staged with the support of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation and the Turkish Motorcycle Federation, TransAnatolia Rally Raid offers its Turkish and international entrants an unforgettable experience on a magnificent route as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Organised by the Anatolian Sports Organisations Club, known as ASOK, and sponsored by Spor Toto, Mitsubishi Motors, Anlas, Silverzone, İzeltaş, General Tire, Yiğit Akü, Reeder and Fikirmedya, the event will be run over a 2,850-kilometre course from 15-22 August.
A total of 70 vehicles, comprising 25 motorcycles, 37 4x4 cars, 3 SSVs and 5 ATVs, will set off on an adventure-filled journey from a ceremonial start in front of Dolmabahçe Palace at 19:00 on Saturday 15 August. On Sunday morning the crews will leave Kemerburgaz, cross the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and head for Karaman via Bolu Abant, Haymana and the Salt Lake. After the demanding stages in the Bolkar Mountains, they will take a similar route back to complete the course at Şile in Istanbul.
Among the competitors in this tough challenge are well-known names from Britain, Italy, France and the Netherlands. In the motorcycle category they include Dakar riders such as France's Xavier De Soultrait, Italy's Alessandro Botturi, 2019 TransAnatolia winner Maurizio Gerini of Italy, France's Adrien Van Beveren, Red Bull rider Camille Chapeliere of France and two-time Italian champion Jacopo Cerutti.
