WRC Rally Turkey to Be Held in Marmaris on 18-20 September

Rally Turkey, round five of the 2020 FIA World Rally Championship, has been placed under the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye this year and will be organised by the Turkish Motorsports Federation (TOSFED) on 18-20 September. Rally Turkey, which for the past two years has been "the biggest sporting event our country has hosted", will welcome world-famous drivers and thousands of tourists amid the unique pine forests and the magnificent sea of Marmaris.
The championship, which was paused after the first three rounds because of the Covid-19 pandemic, will resume with Rally Estonia on 4-6 September, and the crews will then turn their attention to Türkiye. Starting on Friday 18 September, Rally Turkey will stage breathtaking battles between the fastest rally drivers in the world. The action will continue for three days on the special stages in the Marmaris, Ula and Datça areas, and will be broadcast live to the whole world on 155 television channels.
Commenting on the event, which for the past two years has been "the biggest international sporting event held in our country", TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı said: "We are extremely proud that the Rally Turkey event will be held under the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. On this occasion, we extend our gratitude to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in particular, to our Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, and to all our state leaders who have contributed to this project. We are ready once again to show our country's strength to the whole world and to contribute to its promotion."
WRC Promoter CEO Jona Siebel also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports and TOSFED, saying: "In line with the measures taken after the pandemic, Marmaris is a popular holiday resort where all participants and spectators can travel in comfort and safety. To create a safe environment for the event, the FIA and Turkish Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols will be applied."
