Single-Make Cups Get Under Way

Intercity Istanbul Park is launching three different single-make cups, with the aim of increasing interest in motorsport and finding new faces and fresh talent to bring into the sport. The Clio Cup, Caterham Cup and Porsche GT3 Trophy Turkey, which will feature 65 cars and close to 100 competitors, are expected to attract great interest and provide intense competition.
The Clio Cup is aimed in particular at amateurs and people with no racing experience, with participants taking to the track after a short training period, while the Caterham Cup and Porsche GT3 Trophy Turkey target experienced drivers with a racing background.
The Clio Cup will be open to women and men of all ages over 18. It will follow a different concept, open to amateurs and people who have never raced before, with each car shared by two drivers. A further format, run under the name Univercity Cup, will see university students race Clios on very affordable budgets.
The cup using the Superlight R300 race cars from Caterham, a legendary name in motorsport, will see 20 drivers do battle. Weighing 530 kg, producing 175 horsepower and fitted with a sequential gearbox, these thoroughbred racing cars should provide enjoyable competition both for the drivers and for spectators.
In Porsche GT3 Trophy Turkey, which will be run with 20 Porsche GT3 cars, talented people who want to get into motorsport will also be able to take part after completing training programmes, alongside experienced circuit racing drivers.
