Off-road Fever Sweeps Through Sapanca

The local off-road event organised by the Sapanca Off Road Association (SOFFDER) on the course in Yanık Mahallesi, with the support of Sapanca Municipality, attracted great interest. A total of 17 vehicles and 34 competitors from Antalya, Rize, Trabzon, Bolu, Düzce, Karabük, Sakarya and Istanbul took part.

At the end of the event, Ahmet Köse-Halil İhtiyar won Class 1, İrfan Özdemir-Yusuf Öztürk took Class 2, Volkan Kaba-Arda Aslan won Class 3, and Hüseyin Memi-Şükrü Aslan won Class 4 and the overall classification. Memi and Aslan, who carried on racing despite rolling their vehicle, also took the best stage award.

Sapanca District Governor Gökhan Azcan, who tested the course in an off-road vehicle, said off-roading is a great adrenaline sport, adding: "It's a job that takes a bit of courage too. The best thing is that it puts you in close contact with nature and doesn't harm yourself or anyone else."
