Klaros Autocross Delivers Close Competition

Round 2 of the 9 Eylül Cup, the Klaros Autocross, was held with the support of Menderes Municipality and organised by Aydın Otomobil Sporları Kulübü on Sunday 14 June at the İzmir Menderes autocross track. Despite the hot weather, motorsport fans who came to watch enjoyed the close competition. The event was run over 5 laps of the 800-metre track, which has a mixed dirt and concrete surface, and was staged in three separate categories.

In Category 1, Bedri Kolsallayan, a new rival for Tolga Tezeken, finished second in the first event of the season after a year away. Tolga Tezeken, as in the previous round, set the fastest time again and took the win. Burak Güngör was unable to start the race after rolling during the practice laps and damaging the car.

In Category 2, Erdal Oral, who took victory in the first round by capitalising on the misfortunes of rivals Mithat Diker and Şükrü Kızılkaya, was unlucky this time. Erdal Oral went off the road at the end of the fast corner and sat stationary for a while, but managed to get back onto the track and complete the race, earning a big round of applause from the spectators. In this category Şükrü Kızılkaya finished first and Mithat Diker second.

Yaşar Özeren and Doğukan Alkan, who joined the cup by winning the Ege Asal Challenge selections, claimed their first cups at this event. Yaşar Özeren won Category 3, while Doğukan Alkan finished third. Yonca Güngör, who is raising the pace with every event, finished second in the category and took the ladies' category win cup.

Round 3 of the 9 Eylül Autocross Cup, organised by AYOSK, will be held on 18 October, with the final round on 15 November.
