I'm Furious With You, Serkan Yazıcı!

Only with you? No, but with you first and foremost... Then with Tolga Şansal, Atıl Atılgan, Mert Yılmaz, Orhan Avcıoğlu, Yağız Avcı, Murat Bostancı, Burak Çukurova and just about everyone I follow on social media... What gives you the right to do this to me? Why? Why are you putting me off my own job?

You, Serkan Yazıcı... Why, since taking the wheel, do you run this federation as if you were driving a rally car? Why do you keep treating this office like the Lancia Delta HF Integrale you drove for the first time at the Şahintepe Hill Climb? Why do you always go up a gear? Where everyone else lifts and drops down a gear, why do you slot it into sixth and fire out of the corner? And dragging the whole of TOSFED along behind you, no less. Why are you making rallying rear up like this, when it once seemed to be lying under a pall of death? Back then, things were easy for me. I never minded being shut away in a tiny studio in Istanbul because of the broadcasts. My excuse was always ready. When they said "come along", it was very easy to answer: I've got my broadcasts, how can I possibly come?

But is that how it is now? Now, perhaps for the first time in years, I was so jealous not to be at an event. Yes, I admit it. I was so jealous of everyone who could watch that rally in person, who was there, who breathed in that atmosphere. Is this fair to me? At 45, you've shown me that I can still feel jealous. Are you happy?

About a week before the event, when Atıl rang and asked, "Are you coming?" - as the words "no, I can't, I've got a broadcast" fell from my lips, why did you make me feel so helpless and miserable? Why did you get me making plans? Why did you drive me into this dilemma: if I sold the Saturday broadcast to someone, I might catch an early flight back on Sunday and make the broadcast, but if there's a delay, I could end up out of work? How nice it was in the old days, when I had my excuse. Now I find myself looking for an excuse to run off to a rally. Next year, whatever happens, I will be there. Microphone in hand, I will present the Turkish round of the World Rally Championship. You've escaped me this time, but next year you won't.

I'm furious with you, Serkan Yazıcı... And I'm furious with you too, Tolga Şansal, Atıl Atılgan, Mert Yılmaz, Orhan Avcıoğlu, Yağız Avcı, Murat Bostancı and Burak Çukurova. Friends whom I enjoy following on social media. You've stirred up my appetite.

Now I'm calmly starting to count the days. Next year that microphone will be in my hands. You know that, don't you, President Serkan... I'm furious with you...
