Team46 Wins Opening Round of Istanbul Endurance Karting Championship

Round 1 of the Istanbul Karting Endurance Championship, now in its 11th season and organised by the Istanbul Karting and Automobile Club, was held at the Akyazı Kenan Sofuoğlu Circuit on Sunday 24 May. After six hours of racing between 13 teams, Team46 took the win of the day, with RSM Racing second and Deniz Yıldızı third. In the Incentive class, Deniz Yıldızı was the winner of the day.

The race was split into three two-hour stages. Deniz Yıldızı won the first, ahead of Çoban Yıldızı in second and Alfa EEKT in third. Team46 won the second stage, with RSM Racing second and Alfa EEKT third again. In the final stage of the day Team46 won once more to take the overall win. RSM Racing finished second in the third stage, with Kuzey Yıldızı third. Kuzey Yıldızı's Orçun Aydemir set the fastest lap in all three stages, earning the team an extra three points.

In the Incentive class, which is made up of competitors who have been karting for the last two years, Deniz Yıldızı finished first, Silver Line Game Over second and Gama EEKT third.

In the overall classification, where every stage is scored with full points, Team46 leads after the opening round with 82 points. RSM Racing is second on 77 points, with Deniz Yıldızı third on 75 points.

Round 2 of the season will be held in July.
