Ünlü-Yıldırım Top the Standings at Season Opener

The opening race of the 2015 Turkish Off-road Championship ended in victory for the Nissan Terrano crew of Ahmet Ünlü-Ayhan Yıldırım. Organised by the Karabük Off-road Club, known by its abbreviation KARDOFF, in Safranbolu on 21-22 March, the race also drew great interest from spectators. Over two days and seven stages, 22 vehicles and 44 competitors took part, with the forest stages run on the first day and the obstacle stages, built inside Karabük University, on the second.

After a tough battle, Ahmet Özsoy-Ali Özsoy took second place in the overall classification in a Mitsubishi Pajero, while the third-placed crew was Hüsnü Taylan-Hasan Taylan in a Jeep Cherokee. The class wins were shared by Engin Başkurt-Serdar Atabey in a Suzuki Vitara in Class 1, Onur Alptekin-Tamer Akdağ in a Suzuki Vitara in Class 2, Ahmet Ünlü-Ayhan Yıldırım in a Nissan Terrano in Class 3 and Kenan Özsoy-Ozan Yağcı in a Jeep Wrangler in Class 4.

Round 2 of the Turkish Off-road Championship will be held by the Vezirköprü Outdoor Sports and Off-road Club (VEZİROFF) on 2-3 May in Kunduz Forest, in the Vezirköprü district of Samsun province.
