İzmir Circuit Cup Gets Off to a Fast Start

The 2021 İzmir Circuit Cup, organised by Ülkü Motorsporları Kulübü, got under way on Sunday 20 June with the races of the opening round. With the V2 Challenge races also held over the same weekend, 29 competitors took to the track, 16 in the circuit cup and 13 in the V2 Challenge.
In the first Super group race of the İzmir Circuit Cup, Çağlayan Çelik, competing for Aloft Hotels Bursa, took victory in a MINI JCW prepared by ERS Motors Racing, with Özkan Kırbacı second in a VW Polo GTI and Orhan Gül third in a VW Polo TDi. In the second race, Özkan Kırbacı made it to the top step of the podium, while Cemil Demir took second in a VW Polo TDi and Hüseyin Yıldırım finished third.
In the Maxi group, Murat Engin led the first race home in a Honda Civic Type-R, with Devrim Erdinç Efil second in a Honda Civic Type-R and Demir Eröge third in an Audi TT R. In the second race, Devrim Erdinç Efil lifted the winner's trophy, with Murat Engin second and Ayhan Göllü third in a VW Scirocco.
In the first V2 Challenge race, Hüseyin Çetmen took the win, with Yavuz İpçi second and Metin Çalışkan third. In the day's second race, run in torrential rain, Abdülmurat İnan was the first to take the chequered flag, followed by Metin Çalışkan in second and Berkay Erdoğan in third.
