Hacettepe Returns from Britain with Third Place

Hacettepe Racing, which entered Formula Student – regarded as the world's biggest engineering and project competition – with a race car of its own design, represented Turkey with distinction by finishing third in the engineering design category at the event held at the Silverstone Formula 1 circuit in Britain from 8-12 July.

At the Formula Student competition held every year at Silverstone in Britain, teams made up of university students design and build a formula-style race car within a set of technical rules and take part in a variety of competitions. In addition to building the car, the students run their team like a virtual company, carrying out market research and cost analyses.

As well as the students' engineering skills, the competition aims to develop teamwork, time management, project management, budget management and presentation skills.

Hacettepe Racing, which took part this year with a car design among nearly 150 teams from the world's leading universities, will complete production of the car it has designed next year and represent Turkey with the car it builds.
