Young Turkish Drivers Aim for Podium at Spa

TOSFED and Spor Toto-backed Turkish National Team driver Ayhancan Güven and Berkay Besler, racing for Toksport WRT, will start rounds 7 and 8 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux at the Spa circuit in Belgium on 27-28 July.
Held alongside the Spa 24 Hours, the races will see qualifying at 13:40 on Friday 27 July, followed by the first race at 18:05, while the second race takes place at 13:50 on Saturday 28 July.
Racing a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup with technical support from Attempto Racing, 19-year-old national team driver Ayhancan Güven said ahead of the races: "We are right in the middle of the season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux, where I lead by 14 points. We have six races left over three weekends, so we need to follow a slightly more points-focused strategy. Spa is a circuit I know well and like. My first aim, of course, is to find a fast enough pace in qualifying to take pole position. I want to start from the front and win without getting caught up in any incidents. If we can't win, I aim to start near the front and finish the races at a safer, points-focused pace. Otherwise, as we have no dropped scores, there is a big risk of losing a lot of points, so we will try to collect the maximum points."
Racing for Toksport WRT, Berkay Besler will be at the same circuit for the fourth outing in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux series, which he began following this season. Besler, who won four class victories across the sprint and endurance races at round three of the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland at Germany's Nürburgring, said he also aims to leave Belgium successfully: "Last weekend at the Nürburgring, we showed everyone our pace by winning all four races in the Porsche Sports Cup. Next up is our Benelux Cup race at Spa this weekend. As always, our goal will be to win. We will do our best."
We wish our young drivers every success…
