Our Young Drivers Are Making Waves on European Circuits

Rounds 7 and 8 of the season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux series, in which two young Turkish drivers represent our country, were held at the Spa circuit in Belgium on 27-28 July.
TOSFED and Spor Toto-backed Ayhancan Güven crossed the line first in Race 7 on Friday 27 July, but was dropped to fourth after the race when he received a 5-second penalty for track limits violations. Fellow young Turkish national driver Berkay Besler, racing for Toksport WRT, also took the chequered flag in fourth, but a 5-second penalty for a jump start meant he ended up classified seventh.

Starting Saturday's Race 8 from pole position, Ayhancan Güven held his position throughout the race to take the win. After this result, which saw the Turkish flag raised and the Turkish national anthem played on the podium, Güven retained his lead in the cup standings. Berkay Besler started sixth and climbed two places, and despite a tyre blowout in the closing metres of the race, managed to reach the finish in fourth.
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux season will continue with Rounds 9 and 10 at the Zolder circuit in Belgium on 15-16 September.
