Three Turkish Drivers on the Podium at ETCC

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport drivers İbrahim Okyay and Aytaç Biter, along with Ülkü Motorsport drivers Ümit Ülkü and Galip Atar, competed in Round 3 of the ETCC, held at France's Paul Ricard Circuit on 27-28 June.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport started in two different classes, with İbrahim Okyay driving a BMW 320si and Aytaç Biter a BMW 320TC. Strong performances in Saturday's qualifying earned both the right to start Sunday's race from second place in their respective classes. In the first race on Sunday morning, Aytaç Biter held on to his position and delivered an error-free drive to finish the opening race second. İbrahim Okyay dropped back one place in the first race and finished third. Okyay also took the third step of the podium in the second race. Aytaç Biter, with the points earned in qualifying and the first race, took a trophy on the second step of the podium.
The Ülkü Motorsport drivers, competing in the 'TC2 Turbo' category with two BMW 320i TC2 cars under the technical support of Toksport WRT, also set very good lap times in their category throughout the weekend. In the first race, the Georgian driver Kajaia finished on the top step of the podium, with Aytaç Biter second and Ümit Ülkü third under the chequered flag. Galip Atar finished fourth.
In the weekend's second race, the Georgian driver again finished on the top step of the podium, while Ümit Ülkü made a move to pass Aytaç Biter and took second place. Galip Atar, improving his lap times, finished the race fourth, as he had in the first race.
Following these results, Ümit Ülkü strengthened his second place in the 'TC2 Turbo' category of the European Touring Car Championship with the points he earned. Galip Atar is fourth, right behind Aytaç Biter.
The next round of the European Touring Car Championship, in which two teams and four drivers from Turkey are competing, will take place at the Brno circuit on 4-6 September.
