Members of the Düzce Automobile Sports and Off-road Club, known as DOSOD for short, held an event to show that disabled children and children with special educational needs can also take part in the sport, and to raise awareness.

Gathering in the city centre, club members let 40 students from the Doğuş Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre look over their off-road vehicles, before taking them to Odayeri Plateau in the Beyköy district.

Düzce Automobile Sports and Off-road Club (DOSOD) president İsmail Aydın said the club places emphasis on social responsibility projects alongside outdoor sports, saying: "Today we are going off-roading with our disabled brothers and sisters who receive special education at the rehabilitation centre. We will carry out projects that draw attention and raise awareness in a social sense."

Project coordinator Ersin Dağdelen also said disabled people should be brought into society through sport, adding: "We prepared this project to show that our disabled and special-education brothers and sisters are not lacking or a minority in society. We are going off-roading today to break down the idea that disabled people cannot do sport or off-road. Our brothers and sisters will be our co-drivers. We would do anything to see the happiness in their eyes."
