The opening round of the season in the Rotax Max Euro Challenge, which includes national team driver Berkay Besler, was held in France. The action got under way on 30 March and was completed with the races on Sunday 5 April.

Representing Turkey in the Senior category, Berkay Besler achieved a major success at the end of the battles at the Salbris circuit. In a field featuring the best drivers from 22 countries across five different continents, the young driver was consistently among the frontrunners out of 60 rivals.

Berkay Third After First Race

The racing, which featured breathtaking battles and drew great interest from spectators, brought together more than 160 drivers from five continents – Europe, Asia, America, Africa and Australia – at Salbris.

National team driver Berkay Besler caught the eye with his results from the very first day of the event and was constantly in the fight at the front. In Sunday's 13-lap semi-final, Berkay finished third with a time of 13:28.986 and took 32 points. The 16-lap final, meanwhile, was an absolute storm of excitement. Berkay Besler climbed as high as second in a race won by Australian driver Pierce Lehane, with British drivers John Stewart second and Jai Nijjar third. Berkay Besler finished fourth and added a further 49 points to his tally.

Following the opening round of the Rotax Max Euro Challenge, Pierce Lehane leads the standings with 89 points, with John Stewart second on 85 points. Our representative Berkay Besler is third on 81 points. Having had far fewer opportunities to race than his rivals, Berkay achieved a great success with this result and signalled that he can be a title contender in the Rotax Max series, where the winner can change in every race.
