Berkay Besler on the Podium in Hungary

Our national karting driver Berkay Besler has added another international success to his record.
Besler maintained his consistent form on the European stage this season by finishing second in the opening race of the CIK FIA Central East Europe Zone Championships, held in Hungary on Sunday 26 April. The races at the 1071-metre Pannoniaring circuit produced a tremendous battle. Our representative ran in the top three from the start of the event and finished the 18-lap semi-final in third place, behind the Austrian drivers Mick Wishofer and Daniel Machacek.
The 22-lap final, with a field of top-quality drivers on the grid, was well worth watching. Aiming for victory and driving aggressively from the start, Berkay Besler moved up to second. Our national driver kept leader Wishofer under constant pressure. While spectators thought Berkay might take the win, the young driver ultimately took second place by just a few hundredths of a second behind the Austrian winner, who set a time of 16:39.847. Niki Kresse completed the podium in third.
After the opening round of the four-round CIK FIA Central East Europe Zone Championships, Berkay Besler lies second in the overall standings.
